'This is Media' screening and discussion

The California State University, Northridge Journalism Department will screen the "This Is Media" documentary on March 4, followed by a panel discussion. The event will help attendees think critically about what is shared online, recognize privacy tradeoffs and learn ways to protect digital footprints. The event will also focus on attendees taking action to protect the rights of citizens in the digital society. The 22-minute documentary is part of the Eyes Wide Open digital and media literacy campaign by Pivot, a new television network from Participant Media, targeted to millennials (ages 18-34). The event is sponsored by Pivot and National Association for Media Literacy Education. Panelists will be from Pivot TV, the Center for Media Literacy, Consumer Watchdog and the Department of Cinema and Television Arts.
