There are a number of resources available to students who are experiencing depression or might be at risk for suicide. Even though many people have a depressive episode in college, 2 out of 3 people never get help. The resources on this page are very helpful for people who are seeking professional advice or assistance.

If unsure where to go for help, check the Yellow Pages under "mental health," "health," "social services," "suicide prevention," "crisis intervention," "hotlines," "hospitals," or "physicians." In times of crisis, the emergency room doctor at a hospital may be able to provide temporary help for an emotional problem, and instruct how to get further help. If you have a family physician, private therapist or counselor, they can also help you themselves or refer you to someone who can.
