Faculty Collective-Janet Oh

Janet OhJanet Oh, Ph.D., is faculty in the Department of Psychology and coordinates the RIMI Community-Based Action Research Internship program.  She conducts research on the adjustment and development of children and adolescents from language minority backgrounds.  Her health-related interests include a study of Latino/a adolescents in which she is examining the impact of heritage language loss on their mental health.  Dr. Oh is also collaborating with a community-based children's center in a research project examining dual language development in Korean American and Latino/a young children.  Students working in her lab would gain experience with a variety of research methods, including daily surveys, traditional surveys, interviews, and language assessment.  They would be involved in various aspects of the research process, including naturalistic observations, language assessments, data entry, coding of qualitative data, and analyses.  Students who have been in the lab for at least one semester may also have the opportunity to develop projects to submit for presentation at professional conferences.
