How to play

  1. Get ready - Download the Geocaching app and create a free account
  2. Get set - Come to campus and open the app.
  3. Go - Use the map in the app to find the 7 GIS Day geocaches hidden by geoglibrarian on campus.
  4. Claim your prize (CSUN students only)

discovering the world through GIS

When you find a geocache, open the box.  Write your name or Geocaching user name in the log book.  Log the find on the app.

If you are the first CSUN student to find any of the caches, you will win a $25 gift certificate to a local restaurant! Find the First to Find token in the box and take it. Bring the First to Find token, your student ID number, and some identification (student ID card or drivers license) to the RIOS office on the main floor of the University Library.

(One restaurant gift certificate per student, please.  If you have already claimed a First to Find token from one cache, please leave any other First to Find tokens you find in any other GIS Day campus caches for the next player.)

Once you have found all 7 GIS Day caches hidden by geoglibrarian, take a screenshot of your Geocaching profile logging your finds (or photos of each cache), and email it to laura.wimberley@csun.edu from your @my.csun.edu account.  CSUN students who find all 7 caches will be entered to win a $100 Amazon gift card! The drawing will take place at noon on November 18, so submit your log of finds before then.

Every student who finds all 7 caches is eligible to win the $100 Amazon gift card, regardless of whether they claim a First to Find prize.

Good luck!
