Professor Walker is an alumnus of CSUN, earning a Masters in Public Administration examining marketing efforts in the public sector with the US Army “Be All You Can Be” campaign. Building on her interest in the public sector, she earned her PhD from UCLA examining the relationship between higher education, public policy, marketing, using her extensive professional experience working for city government and higher education administration.
Teaching Marketing courses since 1998 she then joined the Marketing Department in 2007 as an Assistant Professor of Marketing. Her research interests include social marketing, retail environments, brand preference, and Internet privacy. She is currently working on projects dealing with social networking sites and consumer privacy/protection as well as examining privacy control efforts by/of the California legislature.
Professor Walker has advised MBA students and undergraduates as part of the Wells Fargo Small Business Institute. As project supervisor for Agora Realty and Management, Inc. she was awarded first place in the 2010 Graduate Specialized Project of the Year Competition. She consults for non-profits and small businesses, connecting her consulting with projects for students. She is passionate about involving undergraduates in the research process and helping them acquire skills to utilize in their careers or graduate pursuits.
