The California State University Business Instructional Computing Council (BICC) sponsored a workshop on using international business databases. The date for the workshop was January 18th and 19th at California State University, Northridge. The Dean of each Business School in the system was asked to select two representatives for the workshop.
A list of the participants, with email addresses.
Workshop topics included a discussion of problems with using financial and accounting data from different countries, 'hands on' sessions using the IMF, Citibase and Global Vantage databases, and tutorials that could be used in classes. Data was downloaded from the AMSPEC databases at CalPoly, SLO. In addition, there were several guest speakers.
Housing in the campus residental apartments was provided for workshop participants. Transportation to the workshop was the responsibility of each campus. Many participants arrived on Wednesday evening, January 17th, to be ready for the Thursday morning sessions. The Friday sessions ended at approximately 3 pm to give time to return to the airport.
Maps to the campus as well as a building tour is available at http://www.csun.edu/~busecon/tour/area1g.html. The maps and pictures are all graphics so they may take a while to download if you are using a modem.
The Chairs of the workshop are Craig Johnson at CSU-Hayward and Dave Cary at CSU-Northridge who is also the on-site coordinator.

An alternative way to download the files is to use the AMSPEC ftp server. The address is "schist.calpoly.edu". The files are in directory amspec16 and they are called winsock1.exe and winsock2.exe. They are the same files as above and use the same steps for installing.
The funding from the workshop comes from a CSU-AIRC AOF grant.
