Bicc International Workshop Schedule

The workshop will start, informally, on Wednesday evening, January 17th, at 7 pm in Room 317 of Building 11 in CSUN Residence Housing. Craig Johnson may also be found in this room.

Unless otherwise stated, all workshop events will be held in Business Building 2212. You may call (818) 885-2459 for further information.

All demonstrations will include handouts and computer files that can be used for teaching. In addition, information will be given to make it easy for faculty to download updated files as they become available.

Thursday, 18 January 1996:

9:00 am: Introductions and John Lacey will discuss accounting standards around the world.
10:30 am: John Burdett and Marsha Epstein will demonstrate downloading data from Global Vantage, IMF, etc from the AMSPEC data center at CalPoly, SLO.
12:00 pm: Lunch, BB4117

1:30 pm: Evan Reader will demonstrate using Lexis/Nexis and Dow Jones to get current international data.
3:30 pm: Dave Cary will demonstrate using the Global Vantage datafiles and Excel to do financial statement analysis.

6:00 pm: Reception at the University Club
7:00 pm: Dinner, at the University Club, followed by Ken Ackbarali, the senior economist from First Interstate Bank, discussing how the bank developes risk premia for different countries.

Friday, 19 January 1996:

9:00 am: David Ely will demonstrate using an Excel template with data from both IMF and Global Vantage to show the benefits of international diversification.
10:30 am: Sandra Schickele will show how to access international data on the Internet.
12:00 pm: Lunch in BB4117

1:00 pm: Craig Johnson and Peter Sharp will give teaching modules on hedging foreign exchange rates and balance of payments transactions.

3:00 pm: the workshop is scheduled to be completed.
