Geography 417: California for Educators				Announcements

• June 1, 2006:  Welcome to Geography 417: California for Educators.  This is a very challenging course.  It was designed to help pre-service elementary school teachers prepare to teach 4th grade social studies, which focus on the history and geography of California.  Ideally, you would have a class on California's History and one on California's Geography, but in the interest of making the liberal studies/ ITEP program fit within 4 years, compromises must be made.  Still, you need to learn a lot of things to teach 4th grade and we have only a few short weeks to help you prepare....and in a summer class environment, that is made even more challenging.  So, buckle up and get your crash helmet and reading glasses on because we'll all need them.
