GUIDE TO DESIGNING THE ITEP FINAL TPA PORTFOLIO
See ITEP GUIDELINES for the TPA Portfolio for detailed instruction
CREATE A
PROFESSIONAL OR CREATIVE THEME/COVER
The title page must include your name, your student ID and the date. Also include your Seminar Instructor and University Supervisor's names.
WRITE a Letter to My Readers-- (a welcome and invitation to explore the portfolio)
CREATE A TABLE OF CONTENTS
WRITE: My Philosophy of Teaching and Learning—remember to address
your beliefs regarding:
a. how children grow and develop,
b. how they learn, and
c. the role of the teacher in promoting learning communities that assure success for all.
5. WRITE: My Induction Goals—Complete this LINK and be sure to include a statement that identifies the strengths of your teaching and personal qualities to become an accomplished educator. Identify the areas that you need to improve or acquire more experience and skill. State these not as weaknesses but as short-term goals. Also include ACTION STEPS. Print out two copies on plain paper with the university letterhead appearing at the top.
6. CREATE THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE SECTIONS—How this portfolio is organized. Use the portfolio MATRIX to assist with this important step. The manner in which you organize your portfolio should result in a clear, concise presentation of evidence. Select robust pieces such as an engaged learning lesson or a unit of study and show how you met several TPEs at Level III by writing a written analysis showing your reflecting on many parts (remember to include student work).
7. CREATE THE ARTIFACT REFLECTION PAGE
8. DETERMINE how you will reflect on and “tag” each of the pieces in order to assure “clear and compelling evidence” that you have met the TPE. Also be sure to "tag" in a clear and neat way any additional material you believe is relevant to the evidence you must present on each artifact. Remember: Less is more !
Please do not include resumes and cover letters/letters of reference in the portfolio. If you wish, you may later insert a Professional Documents section in the back of your portfolio which includes your resume, letters of recommendation, evaluations, etc.
