Develop an understanding of the variability in neighborhood context across the City of Los Angeles in terms of both place deprivation and social disorder, and its relationship to health outcomes, for Hispanic populations.

Research revolves around three questions. To what extent is the census block group, census tract, or neighborhood council area, a reasonable proxy for neighborhoods and their potential impact? Do individual's perceptions and objective measures of neighborhoods coincide? How do these perceptions effect outcomes, specifically self-rated health?

Analyzed the availability and accessibility of health care services for ethnic populations, with specific attention to older group members, in the greater Los Angeles area, using Geographic Information System (GIS) and spatial statistical methodologies.
