American Education Association Special Interest Group: Research on Education of Deaf Persons
The SIG was founded in 1975 as a national forum for the dissemination of research on the education of deaf people. The goals of the SIG are to do the following: facilitate the sharing of research ideas and interests, encourage collaborative research efforts, stimulate interest in the relationship of research to improving the education of deaf people, promote excellence in research in this field, generate interest in the practical application of this research, and provide a forum for fellowship and collegial exchange for SIG members.

ASHA is the professional, scientific, and credentialing association for more than 114,000 members and affiliates who are audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists.
Council of Exceptional Children (CEC): www.cec.sped.org
CEC is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

A division of CEC, the primary purpose of this organization is to promote the welfare, development, and education of infants, toddlers, children, and youth with communicative disabilities or who are deaf or hard of hearing. A secondary purpose is to promote growth in professionals and families as a means to better understand the development of communicative abilities and the prevention of communicative disorders.

CCBD is the official division of the CEC committed to promoting and facilitating the education and general welfare of children and youth with emotional or behavioral disorders.

The Teacher Education Division of the Council for Exceptional Children is an organization that supports and stimulates continued improvements in practices in order for all individuals with diverse abilities and disabilities to achieve optimal educational outcomes. Composed of teacher educators and others, it supports the professional development of individuals who provide education and supports to individuals with diverse abilities and disabilities and their families.

TeachingLD is a service of the Division for Learning Disabilities (DLD) of CEC. DLD is the largest international professional organization focused on learning disabilities. The purpose of TeachingLD is to provide trustworthy and up-to-date resources about teaching students with learning disabilities.
California State University, Northridge: Dept. of Deaf Studies
CSUN is one of only three institutions in the nation that offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in the area of Deaf Studies designed to provide appropriate exposure and preparation for persons interested in professional careers as sign language interpreters, sign language instructors, counselors, government specialists, audiologists, speech pathologists, program administrators, community service personnel, and many other deaf-related vocations.

Reading A-Z: This website offers thousands of printable teacher materials to teach guided reading, phonemic awareness, reading comprehension, reading fluency, alphabet, and vocabulary. The teaching resources include professionally developed downloadable leveled books, lesson plans, worksheets, and reading assessments.
University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning:
This site features the pioneering work of Don Deshler and Keith Lenz on the Strategic Instruction Model (SIM), "a comprehensive approach to adolescent literacy that addresses the need of students to be able to read and understand large volumes of complex reading materials as well as to be able to express themselves effectively in writing."
