ALLY PROJECT

Supporting the lesbian, gay, bi,
transgendered, intersexual,
queer and questioning community

Picture of the Ally Sticker. At the top left corner is a pink triangle with black border that takes up a sixth of the sticker. Inside the pink triangle is a symbol representing maleness, femaleness and transgenderness. Imagine the biological female symbol (circle with upside down cross sticking out at the middle bottom border of the circle) and overlay that with the biological male symbol (circle with arrow shooting out of it’s top right edge). We now have a circle with a cross at the bottom and an arrow on the top right side. Symmetrical to this arrow is another arrow shooting out of the circle’s left top side. Overlay this arrow with the cross and we have a circle with three types of line sticking out of it and each line pointing toward the corner of the triangle. Right of the symbol, is the following text: CSUN ALLY. Underneath these bigger fonts is the centered phrase: Supporting the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexual, queer and questioning communities. Below the phrase is the centered URL: http://www.csun.edu/~psp/ In smaller font below the URL is the text: A project of the CSUN Positive Space Program. Background of sticker is a fade rainbow color.

Ally includes staff, faculty, and students at CSUN who display an Ally sticker outside their office or residence hall room. This sign identifies them as individuals who are willing to provide a safe haven, a listening ear, and support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, and intersexed people or anyone dealing with sexual orientation and gender identity issues.

Most Ally members have attended a training seminar to learn about the benefits and responsibilities of being an Ally. Every Ally has signed an Ally Agreement before posting their sticker. Additional resources can be found at the PSP Resources Page.

Ally is overseen by Positive Space Program (SPS), a committee of staff, faculty, and students who direct the progress of the Ally Project. PSP committee began in Spring 2002 to provide support for the LGBTIQQ people at CSUN.
