Training & Supervision Laboratory

The mission of the Applied Research Laboratory in Training & Supervision (K-Lab) is to conduct research that leads to improvements in education, training, and supervision of parents, teachers, and staff who implement behavior plans. The lab is comprised of graduate and undergraduate students interested in methodological and conceptual issues in applied behavior analysis. We are committed to evidence-based practices and hope to contribute to the same body of literature we utilize to inform our practices.

To accrue supervised experience hours to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam, graduate students in this lab must commit to an off-site clinical internship experience concomitantly to meet the minimum competencies outlined in the CSUN Supervision Folder.

The experiential opportunities available to students in this lab include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Conduct literature reviews

· Conduct experimental research in controlled settings

· Conduct applied research with community partners

· Use direct observation methods for behavioral measurement

· Organize and input behavioral data

· Graph and interpret the results of single-subject design research

· Record and evaluate procedural fidelity

· Develop tables and summaries of data

· Lead research and training projects and supervise others

· Develop and use performance feedback tools

· Provide and obtain peer review feedback

· Work with the robotics team and program a humanoid robot to simulate client(s)

· Provide Behavioral Skills Training (BST) or other empirically supported trainings

· Present posters and symposia at professional conferences
