Office Hours:

Course objectives:

Linear Algebra Gateway to Mathematics, by Robert Messner, HarperCollins College Publishers, 1994. We will cover the selected material from Chapters 1-8.

Tests, Quizzes, Homeworks:

There will be 3 tests and a cumulative final exam (Tuesday, December 12, 20157, 12:45 – 14:45). There will be also in-class and/or online quizzes. 5-6 homework assignments will be given. Homeworks will be graded. 20% bonus score will be added to each homework done in LATEX.
Note: Use of calculators, cheat-sheets, cellphones, laptops, or tablets, will NOT be allowed during the tests, quizzes, and the final exam.

Make-up Policies:

No make-ups without doctor’s note. Late homeworks will NOT be accepted. Two lowest homework scores will be dropped.

Grading Scheme:

15% – homeworks
15% – quizzes
40% – 3 tests
30% – cumulative final exam
In some cases, I may use the system when assigning the final grade.

It is my recommendation that in order to do well in this class, a student should devote, in addition to attending lectures, at least 8-12 hours per week on studying, homeworks, and solving problems assigned during classroom sessions.

Important Note!

All cellphones must be turned off during the class time, tests, and the final exam.
