Module 14: Applying Chemical Activities to Buffer Problems

Although the results of the two calculated pH values in the "Apply" section are similar, the difference in the formal hydrogen ion concentration is rather significant. Determine the equilibrium hydrogen ion concentration in each case and compare. Which concentration is larger? Does it make sense that taking into account ionic interactions (i.e., using activities in the calculation) should give this result? E-mail your answers to these questions to your instructor.
