Elluminate Instructions

The Elluminate system will enable you to observe and participate in a class via computer, in real time. Elluminate sessions (corresponding to class lectures) will also be archived, in case you are unable to participate in a live session. The archives will also be useful to on-campus students who need to miss a class session.

You will need to do a little preparation before using Elluminate. To do this:

bulletOn the internet, go to the URL:   www.elluminate.com
bulletFrom the left-hand side menu, select: Support
bulletFollow the instructions for First Time Users:
  1. download the required Java software, unless you already have it;
  2. go to the (virtual) Configuration Room; you can use just your 1st name  when signing in; (Here you will set the volume levels for your microphone and speakers, and download the Elluminate Live software.) and
  3. take the Online Orientation to learn how the Elluminate system works.
bulletAfter completing the training in step 3 above, and about 10 minutes before class, go to the Elluminate Link for your class, which is on your course web page (www.csun.edu/~dvanalp Þ  Spring '07  Þ ECE 351 or ECE 450). Click on the link to join the class session. The same link will work for the entire semester, and it will always be found on the course web page.

bulletThe minimum PC requirements are a Pentium III 500 Mhz CPU running Windows 98/ME/2000/XP with 128MB of memory and a sound card.  The minimum Mac requirements are Mac OS 9.1/9.2, Mac OS X 10.1.5/10.2/10.3/10.4, running on a G3 233 Mhz CPU with either 64 MB (OS 9), 128 MB (OS X 10.1.5/10.2/10.3) or 256 MB (OS X 10.4).

To get maximum benefit from Elluminate Live!, all users should have a microphone and speakers.

bulletAllow yourself at least 45 minutes for the downloads & training prior to the start of the first session. You will only need to go through this process once.

bulletIf you missed a Live session, the archived session also can be viewed from the course web page.
