Welcome to the AMSA chapter of California State University, Northridge. CSUN AMSA is the only prehealth and premedical club at CSUN dedicated to improving the wellbeing of all prehealth students. The American Medical Student Association (AMSA), with a half-century history of medical student activism, is the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. Today, AMSA is a student-governed, national organization committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training. Founded in 1950, AMSA continues its commitment to improving medical training.

AMSA Study Sessions

More information will be provided in regards to the study sessions hosted by AMSA CSUN. Please check back in the near future.

As of now, we plan to organize the study sessions in such a way that it is comfortable for both the host and for the attendees. Sessions will be hosted regularly, more than once a week, and will include assistant in various subject fields. The time, location, and subjects involved in each study session will be populated into this site once we complete the planning phase. Please check back later for more information and let us know if you are interested in hosting a session of your own!

Member of the Month!

This section will be dedicated to an AMSA member that shows great interest in his/her pre-health journey. Awards will include a certificate of appreciation along with the population of the recipient's name and photo into this very section of the website. Recipients will be added continually and in a chronological order. Recipients will be chosen based on their extracurricular activities and involvements, including but not limited to events hosted by AMSA CSUN. President

          Hello, my name is Mkrtich Mike Serobyan and I am currently a fourth year premedical student at California State University, Northridge. Besides managing AMSA CSUN and making sure everything runs smoothly, I am involved in a couple of other activities on and outside of our campus. I am currently partaking in biochemistry research lab here on campus where my partner and I work with Acinetobacter Baumannii 's FabI plasmid; due to its potential significance in the development of pharmaceuticals that can challenge antibacterial resistant strains of prominent diseases. Additionally, I am currently employed as a medical scribe at a local hospital where I also intern as a clinical care extender.

          Hello, My name is Sirvard Silva Kubelian and I am the treasurer of the CSUN chapter of AMSA. As the treasurer of AMSA, I am responsible for taking care of the financial aspects involved within AMSA. Additionally, I am a second year junior majoring in Bachelor of Arts degree for Biology and an aspiring pharmacist on my journey towards Pharmacy School.
          Aside from my role in AMSA, I am also a Peer Mentor for incoming freshman at our campus. I assist the freshman through their transition from high school to the university by introducing them to all the great resources offered here at our campus.           My name is Simarjeet Manocha and I am currently a fourth year pre-medical student at California State University, Northridge. As part of the leadership team at American Medical Student Association, I will be organizing all the secretarial work. It includes, but is not limited to, maintaining chapter and membership records, keeping records of minutes of all meetings and sending follow-up emails to members.
          Outside of school I intern at Glendale Adventist Medical Center, part time caregiver and pharmacy technician. I have been part of many Admissions Panels for Medical Schools and Pharmacy schools. Additionally many of my friends and colleagues are very knowledgable to help us through this journey to our dream careers. Hi, my name is Jeff Shibata. I am a 2nd year graduate student, majoring in Biology, and a teaching assistant instructor for Biol 107/l classes. I conduct research in Dr. Ernest Kwok's lab, where my thesis consists of isolating and identifying a novel organelle in the model organism Arabidopsis thaliana. I completed my undergraduate degree at USC, double majoring in International Relations and Economics. After working fulltime for many years, I decided to return to school to work towards medical school. I completed a 2nd bachelor degree at CSUN in Cell and Molecular Biology with a 3.99 GPA. Additionally, I have been volunteering in the ED at Providence Holy Cross in Mission Hills for nearly 3 years, completed the CASE program on campus, am the Vice President of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, and have been volunteering for La Casa Hogar orphanage in Tijuana, Mexico since 2004. I have over 80 hours of physician shadowing with numerous specialties including: surgeons in the OR, critical care specialists, and primary care doctors with both allopathic and osteopathic physicians.
