CSUN Faculty, Students Invite Community to
Join Them in Cross Examining Local Judges

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., April 11, 2005) -- Ever dream of cross examining a judge and grilling him, or her, on the fine points of a particularly pressing legal matter?

The community will get a rare opportunity to do just that at a public forum on Thursday, April 28, at Cal State Northridge's annual "Cross-Examine the Judges Night."

The free event, sponsored by CSUN's Department of Political Science, is at 7 p.m. in the Grand Salon of the University Student Union on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St., Northridge. Parking is available for $4 in G4 on Zelzah Avenue.

Judges from San Fernando Valley Superior Courts will answer questions from the audience on the operation of the court system and the role of judges.

"It is a unique opportunity for members of the CSUN community and the public at large to interact with the judges outside the formal constraints of the courtroom. The judges represent both civil and criminal courts," said assistant professor of political science Lawrence Becker, coordinator of the university's Judicial Internship Program.

For more information, call the Political Science Department at (818) 677-3488.
