Boeing Donates $50,000 to Support a
Variety of Programs at CSUN

(NORTHRIDGE, Calif., March 17, 2005) -- Cal State Northridge has received seven donations, totaling $58,500, from the Boeing aerospace company to support programs in Northridge's colleges of Education, Engineering and Computer Science, and Business and Economics.

"We thank Boeing for its generosity and are proud to have them as a corporate partner of the college," said Philip Rusche, dean of the Michael D. Eisner College of Education which received $20,000 for its Center for Teaching Learning and a science teaching project. "The company's ongoing support makes it possible to develop new and innovative programs. With the help of friends like Boeing, our college has become nationally recognized for advancing effectiveness in teaching and learning."

The college of Engineering and Computer Science obtained $14,000 to fund scholarships, $5,000 to support the Teaching Technology to Teachers: A Hands-On Approach Using Robotics program and $3,500 to maintain the Boeing Automation Laboratory in the department of Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Management.

The College of Business and Economics received $10,000 to support the San Fernando Valley Economic Research Center and $6,000 to fund faculty development.

Boeing is a world-leading aerospace company and manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft. Having a long tradition of aerospace leadership and innovation, the company's largest contributions go to support education across the nation and in countries where Boeing operates.

California State University, Northridge has 31,000 full- and part-time students and offers 61 bachelor's and 42 master's degrees as well as 28 education credential programs. Founded in 1958, it is among the largest single-campus universities in the nation and the only four-year public university in the San Fernando Valley. The university serves as the intellectual, economic and cultural heart of the Valley and beyond.
