Welcome

On behalf of the CSU Council of Vice Presidents of Student Affairs, I want to WELCOME you to the Fourth Biennial CSU Greek Summit being held April 10, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport. We are very pleased that you have chosen to participate in this important event. The Greek Summit was developed by the Council of Vice Presidents in recognition of the critical roles that fraternities and sororities play on our campuses. Fundamentally, the Greek Summit is about Greek leaders and university staff and administrators working together to strengthen relationships, to affirm shared values, and to learn from each other.

The theme for the 2008 Greek Summit is "Revisiting Shared Principles for Greek Life Organizations and California State Universities." This theme was selected in recognition that today's Greek leaders and many of the campus Greek advisors and administrators did not participate in the development of the Shared Principles document in 2003. Therefore, it is timely for this new generation of student leaders and university leaders to come together to review the agreements reached by our predecessors. We will discuss the Shared Principles as a step toward their revision, if necessary, and eventual re-affirmation.

We want to acknowledge and thank the Western Region Greek Association for allowing the CSU Greek Summit to affiliate with the WRGA Conference being held April 10 - 13 at the same location. The alignment of these events further highlights the importance of Greek Life and our shared commitment to the positive development of our Greek leaders and systems. Please join me in expression our appreciation to the WRGA leadership when you see them at the Summit and Conference.

Enjoy your time at the Summit. We look forward to productive dialogue, thoughtful consideration of ideas, and a bright future for Greek Life at the CSU.
