Commerce of Creativity Distinguished Speakers Series featuring John Mauceri
John Mauceri's musical journey has taken him to the world's greatest opera companies, symphony orchestras and musical stages of Broadway, as well as the most prestigious halls of academia. Regarded as the most eminent performer of the music of Hollywood's emigre composers, Mr. Mauceri has taken the lead in preserving, performing and conducting the works of artists as diverse as Debussy, Stockhausen, Bernstein, Elfman and Ives. He has recorded more than 70 albums and earned extensive international recognition, including a Grammy, Olivier, Cannes Classique, two Emmys and four Deutsche Schallplatten awards.
In addition to being the Founding Director of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Mr. Mauceri served as its Principal Conductor from 1991 to 2006. Currently, he is Chancellor of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, American's first public arts conservatory.
Mr. Mauceri will speak about his experiences and accomplishments in this free public presentation, followed by a Q&A discussion with the audience.
