Promising young tenor Paul Appleby possesses an elegant, warm voice and the ability to perform in roles such as Brighella in Ariadne auf Naxos (Metropolitan Opera debut), Agenore in Il Re Pastore, Lysander in A Midsummer Nightâs Dream and Fenton in Falstaff, as well as sultry, vibrantly-colored Argentinian and Brazilian songs and jazzy American popular standards by Gershwin and others. The New York Times describes him as a ââ¦[n]uanced, expressive and bright hued tenor.â
