PUMP Project

PUMP is a project funded by the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciencesunder the NSF program Workforce in the Mathematical Sciences. This project is hosted by the Department of Mathematics at CSUN and focuses on increasing the participation of highly qualified students from the San Fernando Valley in Mathematical Sciences Ph.D. programs.

Activities include summer institutes, weekly seminars, honors calculus for high-school students, advanced mathematics course work and undergraduate research projects for math majors, and problem-solving sessions. With these activities and under the guidance of the faculty involved in this project, students will acquire the maturity needed for initiation to mathematical discovery, and will also broaden their vision of mathematics.

Fall 05 Programs

Summer Programs

June 13 - July 15, 2005

• Summer Institute I. For students that have completed two semesters of Calculus
• Summer Bridge Institute. For all majors that have completed the entire Calculus sequence and Linear Algebra.

August 8 - August 26

• Hight School Summer Program is open to incoming 11th graders who have completed Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. It is designed to help you increase your appreciation and understanding of mathematics.
