Biography
Dr. Ashley Samson is in her third year as an assistant professor at California State University, Northridge. She teaches courses in sport psychology and sport sociology, conducts research, and consults with athletes, both in and outside of the CSUN community. Ashley's research focuses primarily on motivation in endurance athletes, but has recently expanded to the areas of loss aversion, emotional contagion, self-talk, women's sport, and the impacts of social culture on athlete perceptions. Dr. Samson has presented her work at various national conferences and has published in both international and national peer-reviewed scientific journals. When she is not busy being a professor and sport psychology consultant, Ashley enjoys riding her horse and training him for 3-day eventing, and running ultramarathons.
