ECE 651  "Digital Signal Processing 1"

Topics:  ECE 651 will cover the digital signal processing (DSP)  fundamentals described in the university catalog.  In addition, ECE 651 will discuss recent DSP application topics, including the algorithms used for Internet Digital Subscriber Lines (DSL)  and modems.  The one-dimensional digital signal processing topics in ECE651 will be covered in a way that will ease the transition to the two-dimensional digital signal processing and image processing topics in ECE 652.  (ECE651 is the prerequisite to ECE652).  A detailed course syllabus for ECE 651 will be handed out at the first class meeting.

ECE 651 Prerequisite:  ECE 351 or the equivalent course where you obtained your undergraduate degree.  ECE 351 provides an undergraduate introduction to linear systems and digital signal processing.  It introduces topics such as filtering and Fourier transforms.  The first several weeks of ECE 651 will include a review of the fundamental material from ECE 351 that is used in ECE 651.
