Orientation is designed for ALL NEW STUDENTS regardless of whether you have
just graduated from high school, are transferring from another college, are
returning to university life after a few years away, or sending your student
off to college... We want to provide you with pertinent information and support
services available to assist you in making your time with Cal State Northridge
enjoyable and successful. Attendance at a campus orientation is one of the most
critical factors in your future success at college. In fact, research shows
students are 70%-80% less likely to leave college within the first year
after having attended an orientation. We want to do all we can to help you as you
begin your college experience. A goal of the summer orientation staff is that
you feel welcome at Cal State Northridge and leave our university orientation program
with all your questions answered. We look forward to meeting you in August.
Attendance at a one-day Orientation session is required of all first-time-freshmen.
Your preassigned date will be mailed to you after you are admitted into Cal
State Northridge. At Orientation you will meet some of your future friends and
classmates, find your way around campus and discover all that is available to you
from classrooms to clubs and other campus services.
Fee: $50.00
As a transferring student, we realize that many of you are already familiar with
a university environment but may still have specific questions about Cal State
Northridge. We have tailored our program to meet your needs. A solid transition
is important to continuing a successful collegiate career. Attendance at
orientation is strongly encouraged for all transfer students.
Fee: $25.00
The next few years will be full of excitement, anziety and challenges not only for
your college student but for you as a parent or guardian. Whether your student
is commuting or living on campus, whether you live in a small town or a large city,
or whether this is your first or last student off to college, this program will
provide valuable information that will aid in your transition into the
Cal State Northridge community. We believe that a partnership involving students,
parents and the unviersity is the best support system to encourage student success.
Fee: No cost.
