In preparation for my doctoral dissertation I undertook a systematic study of Neolithic and later collections from northwest Africa and the Iberian peninsula at the following museums: in Morocco, the Rabat, Tangier, and Tétouan archaeological museums; in Algeria, the Bardo Museum (Algiers) and the Demaeght Museum (Oran); in France, the Musée de l'Homme (Paris); in Spain, the archaeological museums at Málaga, Granada, Valencia, and Montserrat; in Portugal, the Carmo, Geological, and Ethnological museums (Lisbon).
