Talking Points and
Reminders for OP Orientation Presentation:
- ELPS (geographical
location choices on the map and 30 hour requirement)
- Student conduct
code (fraudulent/falsifying information/signatures will result in
department/university consequences)
- Professional
conduct guidelines (dress, behavior, confidentiality - " we are
guest at the schools", etc.)
- ALL students are to
complete "Student Contact Information" sheets. All shets are due
in the Field Experience Office by 2/6 to ensure placement. Please
inform the Field Experience Office if they then decide to withdraw
from the class after completing the Student Contact Sheet. School
personnel get very upset, once a placement has been secured, the
students are expected and they are 'No Shows'.
- Check-off all
appropriate boxes (e.g. taking more than one class, special
circumstances, etc.).
- Review criteria for
special circumstances (e.g. the student will be securing her/his
own placement and completing/submitting the appropriate
form).
- Students who need a
placement, review the map to indicate their preferred geographical
(early field experience placement) location(s).
- Make sure that the
students' email addresses are legible on the Student Contact
Information ½ sheet.
- All communications
RE: placements will be conducted through their CSUN web email
address (e.g. receiving their OP school assignment prior to the
designated 'check-in days').
- Students are not to
contact schools for their own placements (unless it is a special
circumstance, please reinforce criteria) or to call the school
unless it is an emergency/illness and s/he can not attend during
the scheduled OP hours
- Park on the street
not in the school parking lot.
- Every student must
receive a TB clearance prior to beginning the OP assignment
(remind students to bring the form the first day as s/he may be
asked to show it to the school personnel).
