WeBWorK is an Internet-based homework delivery system which was developed at the University of Rochester and is now used in numerous Colleges and Universities around the country.
WeBWorK is grader, not a tutor. It will give you immediate feedback on your mastery of each topic. Often it will also give you hints. Research has shown that the use of WeBWorK improves student success by an average of one half a grade in College Algebra.
WeBWorK requires that you have access to the Internet. To log in into your WeBWorK account for this class, follow these steps.
The program will now grade the problem and show any errors.
In general you should begin each Homework Set by clicking on Get Hard Copy on the second screen after the login page (Step 3 above), and printing out the problems. You can work them out with pencil and paper and return to the computer when you are ready to enter your answers.
If you are having trouble figuring out your errors, you should consult the book, or ask a fellow student, or your professor for help. Don't spend a lot of time guessing -- it's not very efficient or effective. You can use the Feedback button on each problem page to send e-mail to your instructor.
Problems in WeBWorK follow the textbook but are algorithmically generated. This means that each student will have a unique set of problems. Each assignment will have a timed due date; after the due date, any work that you do will not count for a grade.
Homework Set 0 is to familiarize you with WeBWorK and it does not count for credit. However, you are strongly encouraged to work it out to become familiar with inputing answers in WeBWorK.
