All CSUN Student Veterans Invited to Rise to Success at the “Elevate: Professional Development Dinner” hosted by Veterans Resource Center

February 13, 2018

Northridge — The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) of the University Student Union (USU) invites all CSUN Student Veterans to attend the “Elevate: Professional Development Dinner” event on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., preceded by a networking mixer from 4:30 to 5 p.m. All participants will enjoy a complimentary dinner and connect with working professionals in their desired career field. This free event, exclusively for CSUN Student Veterans, is located in the Grand Salon and South Patio in the USU, adjacent to the Pub Sports Grill.

“This year the VRC decided to take our popular Professional Development Dinner, which was designed to provide the perfect environment for our Student Veterans to gain valuable insight and advice about their desired career fields, and take it to the next level,” said Amber Bartmus, USU Veterans Resource Center Supervisor. “Now, ‘Elevate: Professional Development Dinner’ will also emphasize information about internship opportunities and graduate programs, should they be interested in the supplementing or advancing their education. Whether Student Veterans are attending as a first-year or preparing to graduate this May, we have something for all!”

At the event, all attendees will be able to learn about the range of careers related to their major. They will enhance their network connections with potential employers from a variety of fields, such as: business and entrepreneurship, arts and communication, health and wellness, STEM, mental health and community advocacy.

The event will also feature a special panel discussion on academic and internship opportunities at CSUN and off campus. The panelists are Josh Loop, Veterans to Energy Careers Technical (VTEC) Programs Manager; Janice Potzmann, CSUN Career Center Assistant Director; and Dr. Amy Levin, Professor in Social Work and Associate Vice President (AVP) of Graduate Studies. In addition, all in attendance will have the opportunity to get a new LinkedIn profile image taken by a professional photographer.

All interested CSUN Student Veterans can RSVP online by Friday, Feb. 16 at csun.edu/vrc/events/vrc-elevate-spring2018. For more information on this event, the Veterans Resource Center and the University Student Union, please visit csun.edu/usu/vrc.
