A nonprofit is only as good as its culture and climate - modeled by its leaders. Nonprofit leaders committed to integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into their organizational structures need to adopt best practices and learn about frameworks for cultivating this type of environment. This workshop will assist nonprofit Board members and senior staff in examining the challenges of an effective "DEI environment" as well as their own behaviors and beliefs - and in learning about the practical tools and resources necessary to build a more supportive and engaging workplace. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the implicit bias, institutional, and psychological processes that challenge all organizations in this area. The free workshop is co-sponsored by the Office of LA County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and will be led by CSUN Professor Allen Lipscomb, whose work focuses on these issues as well as on mentorships for African American male social workers
