Building Future Leadership of Family Foundations

As wealth continues to transfer from one generation to another, younger generations need to become more actively involved in their family’s foundation Shirley Welk Fredricks and her family’s Lawrence Welk Family Foundation have been pioneers in structuring and growing multigenerational leadership - including grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jan Kern and her Family Foundation Information Exchange groups, based at Southern California Grantmakers, has been a pioneer in bringing together family foundations leaders to share with and help each other with the challenges of leadership and operations. This free workshop, offered to San Fernando Valley family foundations, will feature these two leaders in conversation with Dr. Thomas Backer, who has studied philanthropy (including a year-long study of FFIX commission by the Annie E. Casey Foundation) for more than 30 years.
