Transportation Assistance Program

Need help with parking costs? The University Student Union (USU) Transportation Assistance Program (TAP) was established to aid currently enrolled CSUN students commuting to and from campus. TAP aims to help students focus on their studies and make the most of all the campus has to offer.

The USU will award up to 340 parking permits for the fall 2026 semester. You must be enrolled in a minimum of three (3) units to apply. Undocumented, DACA and international students are also eligible for consideration. Approvals will be sent via email on Friday, Aug. 7. If approved, you must claim your permit in person at the Parking and Transportation Services office. 
 

Apply online starting at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29. 


Applications will close after 450 submissions and not all applicants will be awarded. Contact usutap@csun.edu if you have any questions. 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Open to all majors
  • Open to both graduate and undergraduate students
  • Undocumented, DACA and international students are eligible
  • Must be enrolled in at least 3 units for the fall 2026 semester

Tips and Reminders

  • Students who are granted a permit must claim it at the Parking and Transportation Services office with a photo ID and license plate number between Aug. 11 – 21.
  • You will need to explain your financial need in your application. Be clear and concise with your answer.
  • Identify why current funds and financial aid cannot be used to purchase a parking pass.
  • Discuss any extenuating/unforeseen circumstances and emergencies, and how they prevent you from purchasing a parking pass.
  • Set a calendar reminder for when applications open.
  • Please note: All application decisions are final. Appeals or reevaluations will not be considered.
