Half Day

Program Info

Our half day program complements CSUN’s Summer Academic Program for Elementary School Students (SAPESS) and Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP). Children enrolled in the SAPESS or SAEP programs may attend the half day option of Sunny Days Camp. All campers are picked up daily from Sierra Hall and Manzanita Hall, located near where the SAPESS and SAEP programs dismiss their students. Once accounted for on our daily roster, the campers are escorted by Sunny Days Camp staff to our facility at the University Student Union. Upon arriving at Sunny Days Camp, campers will have lunch and then participate in their selected programs which are outlined below:

Daily Free Swim

If your child loves the water they can unwind in our Daily Free Swim Program. Every Monday we do a swim evaluation to test and retest your child's swim ability. They are then given wristbands that correspond with where they are allowed to swim in the pool. Our facilities include remodeled locker rooms for changing and equipped with showers. Your child is supervised not only by our staff, but also by experienced lifeguards. Each camper is required to bring their own towel and sunscreen. Sandals and swim shoes are required.

Daily Indoor Activities

Daily Indoor Activities gives your child the option to choose between varieties of different activities that will take the place of the swim program. Your child will have the opportunity to work with counselors who specialize in art and theater. Our staff that has theater experience will work with your child to expose them to life on the stage honing in on skills, special techniques and workshops to improve your child's acting. Our staff with an art background will help enhance your child's artistic ability, while teaching them the basics of art.

If you have a little gamer, your child will also have the option to take advantage of our Games Room, which is equipped with pool tables, table tennis, the latest console gaming systems and classic board games. All games are age-appropriate for children 13 and under. Our facility also includes a projector, big screen TVs and a newly refurbished lounge area. Campers will learn new skills for billiards and table tennis, and then have the chance to participate in weekly tournaments.

Campers enroll in different programs on a week by week basis, as space is available.

At 3 p.m. all programs come together to enjoy an afternoon snack. After snack time campers are separated according to age and have the choice to pick their supervised afternoon activities such as arts & crafts, sports, games and group projects.
