Traditional (Without Field Trips) — Ages 4–11
Campers in this program participate in a variety of traditional day camp activities such as sports, games, arts & crafts and free play. All campers enjoy daily Free Swim throughout the week, except on Wednesdays. Campers in the Traditional Without Field Trips program do not go on weekly field trips, but instead do a variety of specialized activities on Wednesdays at camp.
The Traditional Without Field Trips program is limited to 36 campers per session.
Traditional (With Field Trips) — Ages 4–11
Campers in this program participate in a variety of traditional day camp activities such as sports, games, arts & crafts and free play. All campers enjoy daily Free Swim throughout the week, except on Wednesdays. All campers in the Traditional With Field Trips program go on weekly field trips on Wednesdays.
The Traditional With Field Trips program is limited to 58 campers per session.
Swim (With Field Trips) — Ages 4–11
Campers in this program will receive swimming instruction from certified instructors. Campers will be assigned levels based on experience and onsite testing on the first Monday of each session. No prior swim lesson experience required.
Campers will have swim instruction in the pool from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. On Wednesdays, Swim Lesson Option campers will go on the weekly field trip and on Fridays they will participate in our weekly themed events and activities.
The Swim program is limited to 18 campers per session, and is an additional $25 per session.
Sports (With Field Trips) — Ages 6–11
Campers in this program will participate in a variety of different sport activities each week, and will have the opportunity to learn skills through practice and friendly games. All activities are supervised by Sunny Days Camp staff and Student Recreation Center staff.
Campers will have sports activities in the Student Recreation Center and Turf Field from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday each week. On Wednesdays, Sports option campers will go on the weekly field trip and on Fridays they will participate in our weekly themed events and activities.
Below is the tentative schedule of sport activities:

Week 4 — Variety Week (Softball, Flag Football, Badminton)

During the registration process, campers ages 6 to 7 and 10 to 11 are placed in groups according to age. For campers ages 8 to 9, parents have the option to place them in the 6 to 7 or 10 to 11 age group based on level and experience in the sport. All parents will also be asked to identify their camper’s level as beginner, intermediate or expert. This valuable information will help the staff provide appropriate instruction for all campers.

Rock Climbing (With Field Trips) — Ages 6–11
Campers in this program will receive rock climbing instruction from certified instructors and will be able to practice on the rock climbing wall in our Student Recreation Center facility. Campers will be assigned levels based on experience and onsite testing on the first Monday of each session. No prior rock climbing experience required.
Campers will have rock climbing instruction in the Student Recreation Center from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday week. On Wednesdays, campers will go on the weekly field trip and on Friday they will participate in our weekly themed events and activities.
The Rock Climbing program is limited to 18 campers per session, and is an additional $25 per session.
Skills of Leadership (SOL) [With Field Trips] — Ages 12–14
Campers in this program receive instruction from an experienced counselor who will help guide them through an interactive leadership development program that teaches different life skills each week including: communication, responsibility, listening, teamwork and problem solving. SOL campers will also be challenged to assist counselors with the planning and coordination of various camp programs.
In addition to the all camp Wednesday field trips, SOL campers also go on their own field trips on Thursdays, except for Week 9. All SOL field trips leave camp at 9 a.m. and return at 4 p.m.
The Skills of Leadership (SOL) program is limited to 25 campers per session, and is an additional $25 per session.
Junior Counselor Program
If an effort to provide leadership and growth opportunities for campers who have out grown our program, Sunny Days Camp offers a Junior Counselor (JC) program. JCs spend the summer enhancing their leadership skills while being role models for younger campers. They work very closely with Sunny Days Camp staff and are exposed to life skills such as leadership, supervision, time management and effective communication. JCs participate in helping counselors facilitate daily activities such as arts & crafts and sports.
This program is offered to High School students 15 to 17 years of age. It is a volunteer position and students can use this experience to fulfill community service hours that may be required by their school. All JCs will receive training prior to the start of camp and throughout the summer as well.
Campers that participate in the JC program receive a reduced rate of $150 per a week.

Staff Info
Sunny Days Camp is organized by full-time Student Recreation Center staff members who are dedicated to providing a safe and exciting camp experience. Counselors are all over the age of 18 and CSUN students, CPR and First Aid Certified and receive 30+ hours of training prior to camp. In addition, most of our counselors are child development majors.
