The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union at CSUN hosted California Governor Gavin Newsom as he announced a $47.1 billion higher education package.
President Erika Beck along with other university leaders, students, faculty and staff members greeted Newsom as he talked about the important bills he was signing that are aimed at making higher education more affordable in California and to further assist students in achieving their academic goals.

The new initiatives included expanding the Cal Grant program for community college students, revising the Middle Class Scholarship program to cover the difference between a student’s total cost of attendance and existing sources of aid, plus implementation of a Zero Textbook Cost program that will help address the rising cost of books.
