PBS Southern California to Broadcast Documentary Featuring the University Student Union at CSUN

Northridge – An episode of the PBS “Visionaries” program featuring the University Student Union (USU) at California State University, Northridge is to be broadcast throughout Southern California by PBS SoCaL Plus on Sunday, June 22. The long-running documentary series, hosted by Academy Award-nominated actor Sam Waterston, highlights stories of non-profit organizations that are working to make a difference in their communities and beyond. 

The USU at Cal State Northridge was selected as one of four student unions nationwide to be featured in the “Visionaries” profile of the Association of College Unions International (ACUI). The USU is a member of ACUI. The other student unions included in the episode are Davidson College, University of Vermont and University of Wisconsin- Madison. 

“We are so pleased that the University Student Union at California State University, Northridge has been selected to represent ACUI and the importance of college unions on campuses across the nation and the world,” said USU Executive Director Debra L. Hammond. “Our commitments to inclusiveness, enhancing the students’ connection to CSUN and the development of students is certainly something to be celebrated!” 

The “Visionaries” episode highlighting the USU at Cal State Northridge will be shown at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, by PBS in Southern California on its digital channel PBS SoCaL Plus. The program can be viewed on the following regional PBS outlets: Cable TV channels Time Warner 235 or 1267, Charter 197 or 314, Cox 810 and Verizon FIOS 470, as well as broadcast TV channel 50.2.
