A CSUN alumna and leading scholar on Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Dr. Garcia is now an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh. On Wednesday, March 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 to 4 p.m., her presentation will explore pathways to positive change by discussing the importance of using critical theory, decolonial theory and anti-racist practices as a framework for serving Latinx students.

“The USU is very excited to c0-host this exciting program for our students,” said Freddie Sánchez, USU Associate Director, Programs & Inclusion. “It’s a great opportunity to open up the conversation to discuss the progress in educational success for our Latinx/a/o community and how to achieve it.”

The USU, Office of Student Success and the Chief Diversity Office welcomes everyone at CSUN to attend the lecture from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. as Dr. Garcia navigates us through Decolonizing the HSI framework and focuses on social and historical factors that impede the educational success of Latinx/a/0s.
