If you've ever wanted to become more tech savvy, learn how to Photoshop or use CSUN Technology with ease, attend a Tech Tips workshop at the USU Computer Lab! We've got fun and informative classes for you to choose from, and best of all, they're free! We offer all of the programs you’ll use most frequently on campus. Choose from beginner and advanced classes to learn or perfect your skills in Prezi, Photoshop, Google Drive, Word, Excel and CSUN Technology and Software. Tech Tips Workshop Descriptions

Campus Tech & Google Drive

The Campus Technologies & Software class will feature some of the great tools and programs offered to CSUN students such as, Wireless Printing,, myCSUNsoftware and more including a portion on Google Drive. Find out how to navigate the interface and learn how to organize your drive through different tools. Plus, you’ll be working with other Google programs such as docs, sheets and slides. You’ll also get an in-depth look at Portfolium, CSUN's electronic portfolio network for students and alumni.

Excel I

This course is designed to help you gain the necessary skills to create, edit, format and print basic Microsoft Excel worksheets. Students will learn and become more familiar to the terminology and navigation of Excel, along with entering and editing data, formatting cells, working with graphs and printing your worksheet.

Excel II

Develop the skills necessary to use pivot tables, create and manage macros, audit and analyze worksheet data, utilize data tools and collaborate with others. This class will give you a better understanding of how to sort data, inserting tables, using text columns and how to find and use formulas.


Our newest workshop features new techniques to help brand yourself. You’ll learn to work with different artboards and navigate through the tools you need to begin your vector artwork. Find out how to create shapes, add images, text and how to integrate them to make them your own.

Photoshop I

Master the fundamentals of Photoshop, Camera Raw and make your digital images look their best. This class covers non-destructive editing techniques using layers, masks, blend modes and adjustment layers. Find out how to perform common editing tasks including color and tonal adjustments, customizing the toolbar, sharpening and retouching.

Photoshop II

Learn how to edit portraits like a pro. This class will go over retouching essentials like removing blemishes, smoothing skin, whitening teeth and brightening eyes. Students will learn how to manipulate pixels with Liquify, remove unwanted objects with Content-Aware Fill, plus use Healing Brush and the Patch tools to remove blemishes and wrinkles.

Recommended Photoshop skill level: Intermediate.

PowerPoint II

Build upon you basic PowerPoint skills. Use advanced techniques such as working with Smart Art and Special Effects within a presentation. Gain a more in depth look into screenshots/screen clippings, photo albums, inserting hyperlinks and creating new templates.


Enhance your knowledge and your presentations by gaining a comprehensive overview of Prezi. This will offer you the chance to make the perfect Prezi presentations using all tools available on the program. Learn how to create an account and navigate the differences between the online and desktop versions. By learning how to add content (shapes, charts and various media,) you’ll make your presentation pop! More advanced techniques like working with Prezi on group projects, plus customizing fonts and graphics, will give you everything you need to start designing your presentation.

Word II

Learn advanced techniques such as working with tables of contents, footnotes and endnotes, adding comments, inserting and editing Smart Art, adjusting your page margins and orientation, tracking changes and using New Comments.
