Panopto: Closed Captions Self-Service
What this means
Panopto now allows faculty and staff to request professionally produced closed captions themselves, directly from within the Panopto interface.
Self-Service means
- You no longer need to contact NCOD: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services
- No manual file uploads or email exchanges
- Requests happen entirely inside Panopto
- Improved accessibility compliance
How it works
1. Open your video in Panopto in My Folder

2. Select the Settings

3. Captions

4. Request Captions / Service Level

5. Order

6. Confirmation*

* There is no cost to submit captions using self-service.
7. Status of Completion
There will be no email notification when captions are completed, so please check Panopto within 48 hours.

Status: Captions Requested means that the request has been made and the request has been sent to Verbit.

Status: Captioned Imported means Panopto will automatically make the Verbit captions the default captions that will be used.
