Policies

General student conduct at the Learning Resource Center:

  • Please keep your feet on the floor, not on chairs or tables.
  • Cell phone use is prohibited.
  • Students whose noise level is distracting to others will be asked to quiet down or leave.
  • Food and drink are only permitted in designated areas.
  • Campus printing is not available in LRC computer labs.

Making an appointment at the Learning Resource Center's Writing Programs:

  • You must cancel an appointment at least 2 hours in advance.
  • If you miss an appointment without canceling, you cannot make another appointment.
  • Walk-in appointments may be available.
  • If you are more than 10 minutes late to your appointment, you will be considered a no show.
  • For Writing Center phone appointments, you must email your paper at least 24 hours in advance.
  • You can make only one appointment per week. 

Freshman Writing Lab:

  • Will discuss, not fix/edit, assignments with students
  • Bring a printed copy of the essay assignment and essay prompt for appointment.
  • Only one paper will be discussed/reviewed during the appointment.
  • Hard copy of essay is required for appointment.

Writing Center:

  • Will discuss, not fix/edit, assignments with students.

  • Only one paper will be discussed/reviewed during the appointment.
  • Consultants are not able to help on take-home exams without written consent from the professor.

Reading/Writing Workshops:

  • Arriving a few minutes early to check in and sign in.
  • Attendance is mandatory to all  multi-part workshop sessions.
  • Being receptive to and trying out alternative ideas and/or approaches.
  •  If you are more than 10 minutes late, you cannot enter an already started workshop, boot camp, and/or prep session.

SMART Lab:

  • Tutors will not help with lab work or take-home exams.
  • Cell phone use is prohibited.
  • One hour per subject per day.  Please check the schedule for tutor availability.
