Transparent Assignment Design: A FacDev-Career Center Collaboration (Part 3 of 3)

Friday, September 27, 2019 - 10:00am to 12:00pm

Location:
BH 410

Did you promise yourself this summer that you would redesign that same old dusty assignment you've been using for years? Or maybe you're teaching a new class and you're hungry for inspiration. And if you're teaching freshmen this year, transparent assignment design can be a powerful tool to secure retention for year 2.

Let's shake it up together. What if you could create a transparently designed assignment that strategically weaves career relevancy and afterwards students would say, "Oh, now I understand why this assignment will help me in my future career" or "I knew exactly what my professor expected from me for this assignment!"

Join this FacDev-Career Center collaboration and actually redesign one of your real assignments this semester, while getting feedback from the Career Center consultants.

What are the easy steps involved?
1) Complete a short application
2) Attend all 3 series workshops on Fridays 10:00am-12:00pm (September 6, 20, 27) (receive $100 stipend)
3) Work with a Career Center Consultant to modify your assignment guidelines using our easy template
4) Share your revised assignment guidelines and complete a follow-up FacDev final assessment (an additional $100 stipend for steps 2-4)

Who is eligible to apply?
