Telling Stories – Lecturing to a Cold Class

Dr. Graves will discuss the spatial logic driving the distribution of farming practices in the United States.  How to help students think disciplinarily about where their food comes from is Graves’ objective.  Though it is in some ways fundamental, it’s not an exciting topic for students, and they have little prior knowledge of the topic; so it’s a challenging task to bring students along.  Time constraints impede a robust method of ensuring student comprehension.  Come watch Steve struggle through this lecture as he tries to engage students in a standard lecture hall format, relying mostly on his personality, experience and teaching intuition.  Questions, comments and critique are welcome.
