Under the guise of a historical, performative game, Reacting to the Past is a form of active pedagogy that teaches students critical thinking and soft skills such as empathy, ethics, speech, and spontaneous thinking. Reacting to the Past teaches students to think “historically” and imagine themselves as a different sort of person while in the game, which is the deepest form of relationality and creative subversion.
