Annual Community-Based Research and Service Learning Symposium - Friday, April 26th from 10:00AM-1:00PM

On Friday, April 26th from 10:00AM-1:00PM at the Extended University Commons we are hosting our Annual Community-Based Research and Service Learning Symposium. This event gives faculty, students, and community partners a chance to showcase the incredible work they have done for their community-based (service) learning projects. On top of the honor of receiving a nomination to present at the virtual Symposium showcasing and celebrating their work, they can win prizes up to $500. The 7th Annual Social Justice Conference will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 11am-6:30pm at the Northridge Center & East Conference Center of the University Student Union!

Join the USU’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion department, in collaboration with CSUN’s Civil Discourse and Social Change initiative for a special event focused on activism and research during the 7th annual Social Justice Conference!

Celebrate your fellow Matadors’ innovative research during the student-led undergraduate and graduate panels. Get inspired by our keynote speakers and take part in the discourse through a series of workshops centering social justice and the history of activism on our campus. And make sure to participate in our resource fair to learn how your fellow campus orgs are contributing to, and how you can get involved in, social justice work.

Attendees who check in at our different sessions and complete our survey will also be eligible to opt into our Social Justice Conference Certificate Pathway and receive prizes based on the number of check-ins!

On April 5th, 2024 from 11AM-1:45PM at the Armer Theater, please join us for a Film Screening & Q+A with Producer Roy Conli. This Q+A will explore the positive environmental impact of film with award-winning Producer Roy Conti, who works at Walt Disney Animation Studios and Disney Nature. This event will have limited seating!

On Thursday, April 4th from 11:00AM-12:00PM, beginning at the Sustainability Center, please join us for a Campus Sustainability Tour led by Aspen City, Waste and Sustainability Coordinator! Enjoy a tour of CSUN's campus to learn about our commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and how we integrate sustainable practices into campus life.

A Conversation With Andrew Taban & Andrea Rosenthal - Wednesday, April 3rd 2024 from 4:30PM-5:30PM

On Wednesday, April 3rd from 4:30-5:30PM in Jerome Richfield 330 please come join our Civic & Community Engagement: CCE 200 class as we learn from Andrew Taban & Andrea Rosenthal, two staffers for Assemblywoman Pilar Schavio, about the Office of the Assemblymember and how they serve our community.

On Wednesday, April 3rd from 12:30PM-1:45PM at The Grant Salon, please join us for Telenovelas in the Park with Mujeres De La Tierra. This event will be a grassroots theater troupe that uses the traditional telenovela model to present key messages about the California drought, water conservation, and the impacts of plastics pollution. Mujeres de la Tierra is an environmental equity non-profit that inspires the healing of La Madre Tierra.

Farm to Fuel Nutrition Class - Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024 from 12:00PM-1:00PM 

On Wednesday, April 3rd from 12:00PM-1:00PM in Sequoia Hall 120, please join us for Farm to Fuel Nutrition Class! Elevate your culinary skills and nourish your body with a unique guided cooking class co-hosted by CSUN's Athletics and Nutrition Departments. The event will be using ingredients from the campus hydroponic farm and sustainability garden. Join us for an enriching experience and contribute to the global conversation on climate change!

On Tuesday, April 2nd from 10:00AM-3:00PM West of the USU, the weekly CSUN Farmer's Market will include an interactive sustainability extravaganza, featuring activities and demonstrations on environmental impact.

Worldwide Climate Justice Education Week

From Tuesday, April 2nd through Friday, April 5th we are co-hosting six events alongside CSUN Sustainability & Associated Students. Please read the description for each event below, or see the descriptions at the website HERE!

We are excited to bring Margaret Cho to campus on March 26th, from 4PM-6PM at the Ferman Presentation Room in the University Library to chat about the making of Fire Island.  The film, directed by Andrew Ahn and a modern-day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice has proven a huge hit with our students and really resonated as a film that centers the queer Asian American community.  For those teaching and talking about these works and issues, it will be a fantastic chance to hear iconic Cho talk about the film and what it means to her. On March 5th, the day of the California Primary Election, from 10AM-3PM, at Matador Square, CSUN Associated Students is hosting a tabling event titled; "Big PARTY" with "PARTY" being an acronym for Political Awareness, Registration, Turnout, Youthquake. The event is aimed at informing students about the current political landscape. The event will help students get registered to vote & stay informed on how to vote. Please come join us for an engaging, informative tabling event!
