On Friday, April 26th from 10:00AM-1:00PM at the Extended University Commons we are hosting our Annual Community-Based Research and Service Learning Symposium. This event gives faculty, students, and community partners a chance to showcase the incredible work they have done for their community-based (service) learning projects. On top of the honor of receiving a nomination to present at the virtual Symposium showcasing and celebrating their work, they can win prizes up to $500. Social Justice Conference - Tuesday, April 23rd, 11:00AM-6:30PM

The 7th Annual Social Justice Conference will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 from 11am-6:30pm at the Northridge Center & East Conference Center of the University Student Union!

Join the USU’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion department, in collaboration with CSUN’s Civil Discourse and Social Change initiative for a special event focused on activism and research during the 7th annual Social Justice Conference!

Celebrate your fellow Matadors’ innovative research during the student-led undergraduate and graduate panels. Get inspired by our keynote speakers and take part in the discourse through a series of workshops centering social justice and the history of activism on our campus. And make sure to participate in our resource fair to learn how your fellow campus orgs are contributing to, and how you can get involved in, social justice work.

Attendees who check in at our different sessions and complete our survey will also be eligible to opt into our Social Justice Conference Certificate Pathway and receive prizes based on the number of check-ins!

This event will be a grassroots theater troupe that uses the traditional telenovela model to present key messages about the California drought, water conservation, and the impacts of plastics pollution. Mujeres de la Tierra is an environmental equity non-profit that inspires the healing of La Madre Tierra.

M(C)ocktails and Cheese with Margaret Cho - March 26th 4:00PM-6:00PM

We are excited to bring Margaret Cho to campus on March 26th, from 4PM-6PM at the Ferman Presentation Room in the University Library to chat about the making of Fire Island.  The film, directed by Andrew Ahn and a modern-day adaptation of Pride and Prejudice has proven a huge hit with our students and really resonated as a film that centers the queer Asian American community.  For those teaching and talking about these works and issues, it will be a fantastic chance to hear iconic Cho talk about the film and what it means to her. CSUN Farmers Market: Big PARTY - Tuesday, March 5th, 10:00AM-3:00PM

On March 5th, the day of the California Primary Election, from 10AM-3PM, at Matador Square, CSUN Associated Students is hosting a tabling event titled; "Big PARTY" with "PARTY" being an acronym for Political Awareness, Registration, Turnout, Youthquake. The event is aimed at informing students about the current political landscape. The event will help students get registered to vote & stay informed on how to vote.
