Dear Nazarian College Students:

I hope your semester is off to a great start and you had fun at the Nazarian College Fair earlier this month. I wish I could have been there, but I heard from my faculty and staff that they enjoyed meeting with you. Congratulations to our $100 Amazon Gift Card raffle winners: Alyssa Ortiz and Crystal Delacruz.

It was nice to see many of you at the College’s virtual townhall meeting with our AS Senators, Justin Tolchinsky and Nathan Dunne, last week. If you were unable to attend, no need to worry, there are two more townhall meetings scheduled this semester on Wednesday, Oct. 5th and Wednesday, Nov. 30th. More information will be distributed closer to these dates by the Associate Dean’s Office.

On another note, I’d like to remind you that invitations to join the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society were  distributed via e-mail by faculty advisor, Prof. Valerie Flugge earlier this week. This is a very exclusive invitation. Please do not ignore it. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is offered only to students from the top five percent of business schools, like the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, that have been accredited by AACSB International —The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only those undergraduate students whose academic records place them in the top ten percent of the Nazarian College and who have a 3.8 G.P.A. or higher are eligible to join; graduate students must be in the top twenty percent of their class. To be invited is a great honor and membership in Beta Gamma Sigma will place you in an elite group, highlighting your academic achievements to others, including future employers, and will provide you with numerous benefits throughout your lifetime. If you have any questions, please reach out to faculty advisor, Prof. Valerie Flugge (

Moving forward, kudos to those of you that attended Meet the Firms and Industry Night earlier this month. Please mark your calendars for the following upcoming events and opportunities:

I want emphasize that we offer these co-curricular events and programs for your benefit, to help you get ready for the world that awaits you outside of CSUN. What we teach in the classroom is absolutely necessary, but these programs will help even more in preparing you to enter the business environment as it exists today and for its evolution. As such, I strongly encourage you to participate in as many of these programs as possible.

Lastly, the University recently announced that based on information from the CSUN COVID-19 Response Team, mask wearing in classrooms is now strongly encouraged but not required as of October 3rd. Please treat others with respect whether they decide to wear their masks or not. Also note that the completion of the daily health screening before visiting campus is still required.

Keep up the good work and get a head start on preparing for midterms!
