Teenage theater junkies look no further: California State University, Northridge’s Teenage Drama Workshop (TADW) — a six-week summer workshop that offers intensive training in acting, dancing and voice or technical theater arts — is now accepting enrollment.

The program provides classes for students ages 12 to 17 in acting, voice, dance, musical theater, improvisation, play writing and design/technical theater. Classes are divided into levels one, two and three to accommodate different age groups.

“We’re teaching the next generation of theater artists,” said theater professor Garry Lennon, TADW executive director. “It’s a serious program but it’s also a lot of fun for the students and audiences.”

TADW gives students the option to focus their study on performance or tech/design. Participants then have the option to select up to three different classes for electives.

During the summer, participants can join the musical productions, “Mary Poppins Jr.” or “James and the Giant Peach Jr.” Students will participate in the “10-Minute Play Festival” which is scripted by play writing students and performed by improvisation students. On the last day of the workshop, students will attend the “Munch & Crunch” — an awards ceremony and showcase of improvisation and musical theater.
