Tuesday, March 27, 2018 - 11:00am to 3:15pm
Location:Do you believe in clean water access for everyone? Are you ready to learn the steps we can take to tackle the global water crisis? Then this event is for YOU.
Join us for our Annual Water Day Event, held in recognition of World Water Day 2018. This event marks the day when the world turns its attention towards the 750 million people who lack access to safe water, and 1.8 billion people who use a source of contaminated drinking water. This Event will host Guest Speakers and CSUN Sustainability Leaders who will present and discuss important issues surrounding water supply, quality, and access to clean water. Attendees can choose to attend single sessions, scheduled to align with class periods, starting at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm, and 2:00 pm in the University Student Union Northridge Center.
Water Day will kick off at 11:00am with Mike Antos, Senior Watershed Manager, Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority who will give an overview of current water management, what work is underway in seeking a resilient path forward using natural water systems, and how we manage water socially as part of a fundamental piece of human society.
The 12:30pm session will include a compelling documentary film screening of "Water & Power: A California Heist". This is a National Geographic documentary about how a handful of water barons gained control of the state's most precious resource: WATER.
The event will conclude with a presentation by Dr. Erin Bray, Assistant Professor in the CSUN Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, and Water Science Program. She will highlight how hydrologic and fluvial processes maintain habitat for salmon in California rivers.
This event is FREE to all students, so make sure to spread the word and bring along your classmates and friends!
