Going Solar: Everything You Need To Know

Free solar workshops for CSUN students, staff, faculty, and community. This free event will explain what “going solar” means, and if solar energy makes sense for your household. For those who bring a utility bill, Pick My Solar will also be able to determine installation costs, financing options, and solar savings.

Presenters: Helen Cox, Director, Institute for Sustainability and Chris Blevins, Pick My Solar

In the workshops homeowners will learn the following:

•         Understanding your utility bill and the electricity pricing structure (tiered rates)

•         Terminology used in the solar industry

•         The most important factors homeowners should consider in choosing a solar system

•         Pricing  -  a breakdown of the costs involved and what you should expect to pay

•         Federal and State incentives  - tax credits and utility company rebates

•         Available financing options

•         Purchase vs. Lease? Which is best for you?

•         Critical factors in choosing an installer AND a solar system
