Student Recreation Center (SRC) Reopening FAQs

Who is able to access the SRC?

The SRC will be open in a limited capacity to CSUN Students, Continuing Students, Tseng College StudentsCSUN Faculty/Staff, Alumni, Alumni Association members, and Sponsored Adults. 

  • A CSUN Student is defined as a person who is enrolled in any units at CSUN. If you are enrolled in any summer session, you will have access. 
  • A Continuing Student is defined as any student who was enrolled in the previous semester. If you were enrolled in at least one unit and paid the University Student Union (USU) Campus Fee in the Spring 2021 semester, you will have access. 
  • A Tseng College Student is defined as a person who is enrolled in classes through the Tseng College at CSUN. A membership will need to be purchased for students who fall into this category (see next FAQ). 
  • A Faculty/Staff member is defined as a person who is currently employed as an administrator, faculty, or staff member at CSUN or who is a recognized emeritus member.
  • An Alumni member is defined as a person who was previously enrolled at CSUN but who is no longer enrolled in classes.
  • A Sponsored Adult member is defined as a spouse or domestic partner of a current SRC member.
  • An Alumni Association member is defined as any person who belonged to the Alumni Association between January 26, 2012 and July 1, 2020 and purchased an SRC membership during that period.

All CSUN Faculty/Staff, Alumni, Alumni Association members, and Sponsored Adults who wish to access the SRC will need to first purchase a membership before taking advantage of the SRC’s facilities. Memberships are available on a semester basis and are prorated based on the date of purchase. Please visit our Membership Page for details on pricing, and how to purchase your membership. 

Do I have to pay to use the SRC?

If you are a CSUN Student, the SRC Membership Access Fee is already included in your campus fees. 

Continuing Students who were enrolled in the Spring 2021 semester will not need to purchase a membership to utilize the SRC facilities and programs for the Summer 2021 semester.

Campus fees paid during the Spring 2021 semester will cover SRC access through Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, the end of the summer semester.

CSUN Students enrolled through the Tseng College do not pay the USU campus fee, which includes the SRC Membership Access Fee. Therefore, Tseng College Students must purchase a membership to utilize the SRC facilities, programs and services.

What SRC facilities will be open?

At this time, five Fitness Training Zones, the Rock Wall, Turf Field, Swimming Pools (Rec & Plaza) and Locker Rooms will be open in a limited capacity. 

What are the hours of operation for the SRC?

The SRC’s current hours of operation are:

    Only bouldering is offered at this time. Belay rock climbing has been discontinued until further notice.

How do I access the facility?

  1. Download the CSUN Student Recreation Center app on iOS or Android.
  2. Select the registration icon in the app and login with your CSUN Username and Password to accept the terms of the SRC Waiver.
  3. Complete a mandatory Online Health Screening prior to your arrival. Email confirmation of your completed health screening will be required to enter the SRC. 
  4. Use the CSUN Student Recreation Center app to access the facility with a mobile device by scanning your barcode ID. 
  5. Visiting the Rec or Plaza Pool? You must book your Personal Recreation Window up to two days in advance through the app or online through the SRC Portal before accessing the pools.

How do non-students access the Student Recreation Center?

All eligible non-students (Alumni/Alumni Association/Faculty/Staff/Sponsored Adults) will need to first purchase a membership to utilize the Student Recreation Center. Memberships will be sold on a semester basis and are prorated. CSUN Faculty and Staff will have the option to enroll into payroll deduction for their SRC membership.

Once you have identified the membership option that’s best for you, and a purchase has been made, follow these steps to access the facility. 

  1. Download the CSUN Student Recreation Center app on iOS or Android.

What does the SRC currently offer?

In addition to virtual fitness opportunities, the SRC now has a modified equipment layout to adhere to all social distancing protocols. Our Fitness Zones and other areas include:

  • Bryan Green Matador Training Zone (Cardio Equipment, Plate-Loaded Strength Machines, Free Weights, Adjustable Pullet System)
  • Total Training Zone (Cardio Equipment, HumanSport Pull Lift Machines, Free Weights)
  • MatArena Training Zone (Selectorized Strength Equipment, Cardio Equipment, Free Weights)
  • Red Ring Courts Training Zone (Selectorized Strength Equipment, Cardio Equipment, Stretching Mats)
  • Top Level Training Zone (Adjustable Pulley System, Functional Equipment, Plate Loaded Equipment, Stretching Mats, Foam Rollers, Cardio Equipment)
  • Plaza Pool (Lap Swimming)

What programs and services will be offered?

In addition to our virtual offerings, we will also provide limited in person offerings for the following programs and services:

Will Guest Passes be available?

Unfortunately, at this time, Guest Passes to the SRC will not be available. We hope to offer this option again in the future once we are able to accommodate larger capacities.
